Recently, I am aksed to install some EDA software for our lab in redhat 9.0 OS.
when i installed cadence IC50033, several problems are encounter.
i have 5 CDs, and 3 of them are base BASE, the other 2 CDS for upgrade.
as below:
BASE_IC_1.2.3 ISR2004_1.2
i copyed them on my hard-disk, and obtain 5 .tar files by using deamon tool.
i compress BASE in base directory, and ISR in upgrade directory.
in my mind, i want to install IC5033 in directory /export/home/cad/cadence/IC5033
first, i boot the SETUP.SH in BASE CDROM_1
but it failed to untar the file, the reason given by the system is that the files are not like tar archives.
My friends gave me a "install" directory. which has been modified. i substituted orginal "instal"l directory during my installation. The base has been installed successfully. i confirmed the configuration is correct .including license and cshrc_cadence.
however, when i lanched the cadence application by typing icfb
The system tell me "bad command"
i also can't find icfb in the tools.lnx86/bin directory.
Another problem is that i didn't know how to upgrade the installed product.
Beside the same "untar" problem, i didn't know the method i can follow to upgrade the installede base to IC5033
i need help

try to download or update IC5xxx from sourcelink.cadence.com, if you have the correct username and password. You have to use it's own download manager.

If you have CD, why not use it?! It's very convenient.

Please refer to one famous article about installing IC5033 in RH 9.0

But I suggest u use the whitebox linux. It's freee and equal to the RHEL 3.0.

To schenke :Thank you for your suggestion!
The reason why i didn't use the CD is that the worksation in our lab hasn't CDROM. i read the CDs in my pc and uncompress them. Then, i uploaded the files to worksation by using ftp.
After running SETUP.SH, i choose install product. i was informed that 100% has been completed. i wonder the 100% refers to CDROM1 or all of the CDROM1.2.3. when the main menu appears, should i choose "install product" again, and assign the mount point is "CDROM2" until "CDROM3" being completed
if i successfully install the base, the ISR should be runned. i am confused with which directory will be assigned as the install path.
if i give the same path with base, the installation will be stopped.
Besides, i wonder that i should choose "update installed producted" instead of "install products"
