hi there.,,
i bought a 74hc157 forr multiplexing my serial port of 8051..the problem is it work fine initially..but after sometime of about 3 to 4 minute it mix data of both side..even if it is getting '0',it is selecting other port.. i have even changed two to three IC's

Hi,

The 157 chip seems straight forwards enough, you really need to show how you have wired it up, and to what devices you are communicating with.

Also you need to post your code to show how you are controlling everything.

My initial thoughts would be a problem in switching from one input to another, what is controlling that and how its controlling the serial port so you get a clean change from one whole byte to another from the other channel.

Without the above info we are only guessing..
 

yes i know its straight forward..
i found its solution it was regulator's problem
i fixed it using 5V 2A regulator
