sort: open failed: +3: no such file or directory

My OS is FC6,and I want to install cadence. But I got the same problem as follow during installing IC5141 and IC5033:

Checking data files...

Executing control programs (pre-load) ...

Determining available disk space
sort: 打开失败: +2: 没有那个文件或目录
Determining required disk space

Disk checks successful
sort: 打开失败: +3: 没有那个文件或目录
expr: 语法错误

Call the Cadence Customer Response Center (CRC) at 1-800-Cadenc2
(1-800-223-3622) to get the right /usr/local/cadence/install/tmp/mediaMap.lnx86 file.

I tried a method acording to an article named HOW TO INSTALL CADENCE IN REDHAT 9,but it didn't work.Did anyone successfully install it under FC6. Or what should I do next? thank you~

mediamap.lnx86

Are you use a vmware or a linux?

Check if ncompress package is installed or not.

install/tmp/mediamap.lnx86 file sort

mediamap.lynx86, cadence

Make sure your Cadence sources are not damaged.

I tried one copy of IC5033 and two of IC5141,but the problem is still

copy redhat9.0 /bin/tar and /bin/sort to your OS /bin/
I have solved that problem like yours by this way.

Goog luck ~~~

i am having this same problem with fc7, how to get /bin/tar and /bin/sort from rh9 into fc6? i read that syntax for sort is different in fc7 thats why these errors come

---

i found the solution to this problem is to add the following to .bashrc

export _POSIX2_VERSION='199209'

now i dont get sort errors in fc7, installation is going

This is caused by some command used in the script is not in the path or has the wrong version.

check the install.sh line by line. you can find the problem very soon.

just replace the tar with a old version, the problem can be solved.
good luck

export _POSIX2_VERSION='199209'

This works.

Rather than editing .bashrc, you can also issue this command in a shell script.

Thanks.
