Hi experts, I had a tough (might be naive) question about waveport,

If the shape of the waveport is rectangular, we know there are TE01, TM01, ........ modes and we can even imagine those patterns in mind. No question,

Now when the geometry touching the waveport is really complicated, e.g. coaxial, CPW, or even more irregular shapes. The eigen mode solver will solve for a lot of modes. My question is in such case, how can we determine which of the complicated patterns is the primary mode?

Please teach me this and thanks in advance.

Coaxial is TEM. Primary mode is the mode with the lowest propagating frequency.
