hey guys,

I have to connect a HDMI display/monitor to a car for my project. (video comes from a BeagleBone, so has to be HDMI/DVI). Monitor takes less than 50W.

I was thinking of buying a 50W power inverter. (12V to 230V).

Does anyone know if it will be cheaper than buying a 12V HDMI display? (I already have a 230V HDMI monitor, so I will only have to buy the inverter)

If not, can I use my HDMI monitor in a car by using some other method? (without using an inverter)

I will caution you that cheap-o inverters have, and
probably any inverter with an undervoltage cutout
function will, damage electronics. I had a laptop with
tuner cable running on a vehicle with a weak alternator,
the inverter began flickering in and out of operation,
and I was minus one serial port.

Be sure your system voltage stays well above the
low voltage cutoff.

thanks a lot
