Power Cable Current?

Hello,

I am designing a system which will need 200ma DC.
I do not know how to select cable. I looked to cable companies but there is no current rate specs.

I have 14 x 0,14 cable of this cables. Is this suitible for my design how can i understand.

Your cable will carry 200mA OK, but how long is the cable run and what is the working voltage of your cable and the voltage being carried by the cable.?

Look at this link for copper cable current capacity.

A 2mtr long cable with 14 strands of 0.14mm dia should be ok for 200mA

Do you follow OK.?

Hi,

One side is the power loss of the cable that causes heating.

Another point is to calculate voltage drop on the wire.

1.0 mm^2 is good for 10A.

With 10m cable and 10A you get a voltage drop of about 3.6V.
With a 230V system the load sees 226.4V and a linear load sees about 97% of power.
With a 12V system the load sees only 49% of power.
