Id ask you to point me to good books on the subjects:

1. PLL designs
2. Advanced Frequency Systhesiers (digital part is less important)

Frequency Synthesis by Phase Lock

for general Frequency synthesizer discussions. I haven't seen a book yet that covers sigme delta synth's, although there are a bunch of PhD Dissertation's on line that talk about them.
