Pic16f877 Pin donot reading values.. please help

I have written c code to determine frequency of a square wave from portA of Pic16f877 using Mplab Hitech compiler. i am giving a wave on the pi while simulation but the value of port is not changing. kindly help with this code attached

Have you set the inputs to digital I/O using the ADCON register?
The Port A inputs power up as analog inputs, you need to set them to digital I/O.
 

no i havent set that. problem is solved now. thanx :)
