pi controller

hi all i want to calculate the values of Kp, Ki for the PI controller. what are the methods.
also i want to know whether PI is a special case of IIR. if yes what are the assumptions or conditions.

PI controller

Search for Ziegler–Nichols methods - thats one of the simplest.

PI controller isn't IIR because it doesn't have internal feedback.
