Photonic Crystals

Hey guys...
I just need a little help with my assignment.
My topic is 'Photonic Crystals for Optoelectronic Devices'.
So I'm only sure of one thing here. I have to write about photonic cyrstals. But I'm not so sure about the rest. Like, I'm not sure what subtopics should be there.
I was thinking of doing 3 subtopics under 'optoelectronic devices'. And then I'll just talk about 3 different devices that use photonic crystals in it and explain its application and everything.
What do you think? HELP!!
Thanks...

Topics of interest for Photonic Bandgap Materials:

1) PBG waveguiding using defects in the array
2) Optical bandgaps, 2D and 3D
3) PBG used as replacement for stratified dielectric reflectors
4) As an aside, you can look into solid state physics texts to describe how periodicity causes the forbidden zones for the porpagation

have fun :)
