Hi,
Thinking about this thread...

....surely its ok to route a power trace directly under an SMD inductor, in a low voltage DCDC SMPS?....eg a 12V rail, whatever?
The thread calls out a danger of shorting, but surely this is not so?
The track would have solder resist over it....but even if it didnt, it woudl be ok(?) since ferrite is extremely high resistance.

(Agreed sensitive signal traces should not go right under an inductor body.)

...I mean, the resistivity of N87 ferrite is 10r.m...so the resistance of a 1mm^2 piece 10mm long would be 100k Ohms.....thats very high resistance.

The datasheet quoted in the original thread doesn't talk about ferrite shorting signals. The footprint has blocking areas for metal parts at the inductor bottom. Other areas can have traces, crosstalk rules for sensitive rules should be observed though.
