Hello all. I would like options on this

I have a question of if I hold a full time job at an ic company and I still want to be involved with conferences and my company allows it. DOES the work I need to do for the conference, reviewing papers, writing emails, writing reviews count as work time for the company or personal/private time because being involved with the conference is my personal benefit. Can the work for the conference be done at work??

What would you think?

These should help you decide.
1. Are you representing your company at the conference?
2. Ask your boss
3. Is the subject of the conference related to the work you do? (civil engineer going to comic con would not be related)
4. does going to the participation make you a better/more effective employee. (training sessions in your field or potential business contacts)

Thanks for replying. So to ask your questions back

1. Yes i represent the company. My name is affiliated with my company
2. I am asking you guys what you think???
3. The conference is exactly in my field. No comic con here
4. I would say yes to what you stated and it added value to my career but it would cause delay in my work at work. More work here mean less work there!

I am just asking for options. I think it's ok but I am not sure

In my experience companies chalk up conference attendance
to continuing education, booth presence as marketing support
and society / conference committee activities as industry
goodwill / beneficial networking and I've seen them not bat
an eyelash at paying the freight for any of these activities.
There's usually a guy or two who seems to do nothing but,
like being the JEDEC rep and perpetual IEEE conference
committee member and, and, and.

Its value to you depends on whether you're short at the
front or the back of the work pipeline.
