Oscillator Simulation

what does a simultion of an oscillator need to work.
am using ORCAD for simulation it gives a dc output

Some sim programs are not good with osc problems. I have seen the identical circuit oscillate with one program and absolutely refuse in another.

I always start with a linear open loop sim to see if there's enough gain and phase shift available to oscillate before trying to run a closed loop sim on the circuit.
