hi guys ,

just thinking , when and why it is necessary to use optoisolation in DC (mosfet) motor controllers ?
is it when using high voltages only ? or is it feasable / necessary on voltage from 12-36v ??

and lastly how much isolation is required do i have to use optoisolated gate drivers + isolated supply + separate battery for logic ??
if i use the same battery to operate the high current section and use a dc-dc isolated module to get the logic and driver supply and i use the IR21844 IC which seems to have separate Vss (logic GND) and Com (return source). is this a good /enough ??

any help is appreciated

thanks
