NOW THIS IS MAKING MORE SENSE !!

On my UBUNTU LINUX version of MPLABX the .INC files were either missing or hidden. I had to run my XP version and copy all of the .INC to a thumb drive and transfer them. Now things compile without all of the "undefined symbol" errors !!!!

Dan

Thats either a coincidence or a problem.
I had a very similar issue last night.
(I normally use mikro but I downloaded and installed mplabx yesteray from microchip so its latest version on win7-64)
MPLABX suddenly started generating undefined symbol errors and I eventually
traced it back to the PIC .INF file had been wiped to zero length.
(It did compile fine originally so the file had been installed correctly)

One to keep an eye on by the looks of it.

I think what was happening was that I was doing most of my searches under /home (by default) and mplabx is under /opt . I knew that it was up in a / .......folder somewhere but thought it was in /etc instead. Anyway, I have 3 or 4 versions of each file now at my disposal. And yes, some of them have the .INC instead of .inc extension. case ! case! CASE !

123Jack lots of times MPLAB won't find the files for you unless you stick them right in the same folder with the rest of your project.

thanks techristian I'll remember that.
This time though something had emptied the file.
