Noise voltage spectral density of a device

I was wondering if it is possible to define a noise voltage spectral density for shot-noise:
The noise current spectral density of a semiconductor device exhibiting shot-noise is defined as: i^2=2qI, where q is the elementary charge.
Would it be possible to calculate the corresponding noise voltage spectral density by multiplying the current noise voltage "i" by the resistance of the semiconductor device at its operating point "Rd": v^2=(i*Rd)^2.
Can somebody tell me if it's correct, or suggest the proper way?
