USB cat5 repeater
I have to install a logitech globe/sphere webcam at about 10m from
inside a building. The webcam will be enclosed in a glass dome and
exposed to very very harsh environmental conditions, i.e. cold, wind and
lightning.
I know that there are commercial USB extenders that go to 150ft
over cat5 ethernet cable like https://www.vpi.us/usbc5.html but
this solution will never make it in these conditions unless it is
completely readapted.
Does anybody know what technique is used in these repeaters?
Is it a simple 90/100 ohms buffer ? I doubt this since there are some
limitations in the USB spec about max traveltime in the cable.
What is the final usb speed? Full speed only?
Better : Does anybody have a schematic of such tx/rx device?
Thanks.
