I'm building a TV Typewriter from Don Lancaster's book "The TV Typewriter Cookbook." I know it's really old tech but it'd be nice to see where computer graphics all began. However since these chips are old and many of them obsolete I need help finding them. The book gives me multiple options of chips to use and these are all that's listed.

Character generators: 2513, 5004, 6072

Baud Rate Generators: 5016, 14411

ASCII Keyboard Encoder: 2376, 3600

Quad Bidirectional Bus Transceiver: 26S10

Quad RS232 Driver: 1488

Quad RS232 Receiver: 1489

Dual Balanced-Line Receiver: 75107

Dual Balanced-Line Driver: 75109

PROM: 1702, 5600

RAM: 2101, 2102, 2111, 2112, 5101

UART (Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter): 1013

That's it! If you need more info you can get this book at Don Lancaster's Website:

I know most of these chips are severely outdated but if you have any suggestions (besides using a microcontroller) for replacing any of these chips please tell me!

Unfortunately I think probably ebay. There are some specialist companies that specialize in old ics, but they may not be cheap. And it looks like this project needs quite a few ICs. The PROMs could be replaced by EPROM or EEPROM if you know the contents.
There are other (lower cost and easier, but using more modern hardware) ways of generating video (e.g. google for video and AVR), but it really depends on if you would like to explore alternatives to the current project.
I sometimes like trying out retro ideas too, but this one looks a bit extensive!

Search some Chinese companies, some of them have production of old ICs, and like sky123 says see on ebay portal.

best source will electronics flea market at a local university!1
