need a help

im planning to make my own led matrix display which will be interface to the PC through parallel port.. I<m planning to use the 4017 and 16f84..but Istill dont have a clear vision of how will I do it.. Is there anybody that could help me??

do you mean pls "CD (or so)4017", the counter?

yes.. that cd4017 johnson counter..im thinking if i can use 4017 only without needing to use PIC

yes i'd checked it but still I didn't get idea..sorry, but im planning to use 4017 and pic 16f84 but if poossible to use 4017 only..cause im having trouble with microcontrollers..And im using %x7 led dot matrix
