Hello everybody,

I'm new to any kind of forum and this is my first post.
What i'm looking for is a small device in the size of zigbee that transmits wireless signal to a smartphone.

I need this because my professor who is guiding me for a project asked me to find some thing like that

Please if anybody knows anything about a device like that let me know as soon as possible.

Easy, it's called a cell phone. They are used to send a wireless signal to an other cellphone

I think your professor hopes you learn something from this. And you do not if we spell it out for you.

Ask yourself; What kind of wireless signals most smartysphones are able to receive ?
Where ?, use the manual for instance.
Then google for the protocolls and you know what kind of device you need.

You gave a little informations. But based on given you can use bluetooth module or WiFi tranceiver module for this job.

Best regards,
Peter

i think i have not given you much info.

the device may be the size of a zigbee or approximately 5cm X 5cm dimensions

let me put it this way.

I have that device, which i mentioned, in my possession and you have a phone.
when i trigger the device with a switch or anything similar to a switch, then your phone should get a tone.

is that possible?

Yes but you need additional programming for phone software, and to use WiFi or Bluetooth module mentioned earlier. Of course module should be used with some adequate circuit which prepare data for sending and control module.

Best regards,
Peter

You can use an arduino with a wifi shield or connect it to a bluetooth module. Then make a pcb and mount the programmed atmel on it together with the RF module. Arduino uses a C dialect.

But you also must write software for the smartphone and that is more difficult. Apple does not let you write software but i have used python for experiments (the interperter allows running the source code for experiments. But you need to make software for Windows mobile, symbian and android too. Maybe a java script. But Apple does not support java (I think)

But why your professor gives you this task ? Normally you get tasks that can be made by yourself using the theory you have learned. So you learn from it. I think asking a solution on a forum is not the way he intended this task. Even my 13 year old son knows a smartphone has wifi and bluetooth.
