Does anyone have a mp3 decoder or a LAN core for a xilinx virtex fpga. I would like to build a device that plugs into the network and I can stream mp3s top it. The dvice would decode it then output it to my receiver.

I have a viterx fpga and I need an mp3 and LAN core for it. Does anyone have these?

There is an ethernet MAC as part of the opencore project. You should be able to strip it down to fit on a Spartan....

Getting MP3 decoding going on a Xilinx may be quite difficult. Have you thought of using a dedicated decoder chip such as the MAS35xx series? (https://www.micronas.com)

You will also need to have some sort of CPU to string this all together again the opencores site have a few!

An alternative could be to use the LEON sparc core (https://www.gaisler.com) configured with the single cycle Multiply/accumulate and see if an open source MP3 decoder could be ported to it... Ahem! quite a lot of work

OK, so now I see another post on the Hardware forum talking about a kit for an MP3 Decoder with a Hard Drive.
( ?topic=12939&forum=31 )
https://www.pjrc.com/

This might be a better starting place..
So much information, so little time.

Cheers,

May be you can use the VoIP dev kit from X. That comes already with a UDP stack and some DAC.

Prob. its easier to use an external decoder chip!!!
