Hi,

* High winding current,
* low RPM may cause reduced ventilation
* high RPM may cause heating in the bearings.

Can we just not measure current , why temperature is required?

Motor circuit breaker or VFD delayed overcurrent limiting is good for most general purpose applications. If you are operating a motor with temporary overload or a VFD with high torque in the low rpm range, an exact winding temperature monitoring is preferred.

I have an induction motor that runs at constant speed. No VFD

Klaus gave you and example with ventilation I believe. The motor may operate fine but due to low air flow will heat up. This condition I think would cause a drop in current.

Operating at higher voltages increase the core losses as well.
