Motomaster 1750W step inverter problem

Hi,

Yesterday when I connected my inverter, being in a rush and stupid that day, I connected the inverter reverse polarity and of course iit,s no longer working.

What's the most likely part to have failed? Do anyone know where \i can obtain a schematic for this inverter.

Hi again,

Finally got home and got the inverter completely apart. There are 10-30 amp fuses inside the inverter and all 10 are blown. Hopefully they protected the rest of the components. Biggest problem is all the fuses are soldered directly to the PCB, no fuse holders. I am thinking about removing the plastic case from the fuses and soldering the new fuses to the old fuse leads. Is this a bad idea? Should I remove the fuses completely and solder new ones in place?

It will work if you use wire ended fuses and just add them as 'extensions' of the old fuse wires but be careful if you try to solder to the ends of glass fuses, in most cases the heat expands the gas inside them and the end caps pop off. You can't normally refit them and in any case the fuse wire will have detached from them.

Good suggestion.
Note: since you are still troubleshooting, make the wire fuses to be smaller in other not to allow much current in the system, and on no load.

I made the same mistake with my power inverter. I discovered that all the fuses blown.

Replacing them brought the inverter back to operation.

Fortunately they were automotive blade type. Inexpensive. Easy to obtain. Easy to replace.

I don't know well the blades will take solder.
