modulation and a/d conversion

Can you do an A/D conversion on a modulated analog signal? Or does the analog signal have to be demodulated before you can do an A/D?
 

Of course. Otherwise you'd only be able to sample DC!!!! You just need to pay attention to the frequencies involved.
