MIMO system with 16QAM ?

Has anyone tired simulating MIMO system with 16QAM as a modulation scheme? The issue i want to discuss is regarding the normaization of the transmitted signal. Like in case of 2 transmitter and one reciever do we need to normalize the transmitted signal with 1/sqrt(2) or do we need to normalize the noise??

It is necessary to normalize both the transmitted signal and the noise.
