I think there isn't a book like that. Because MBI depends so much on the mesuared object. You can find interresting things on the IEEE Instrumentation.
For the basic , you can see books about microcopntrolers or microprocessors, like " Analog interfaceing to embedded microprocessors"....

for automatic temperature control, first measure temperature using any sensor and do appropriate action for temperature increasing or decreasing using a microcontroller or pc **broken link removed**
