profibus dp specification

Anyone has something about conecting a microcontoller to a profibus DP?.

profibus microcontroller

Profibus DP can transfer up tp 12Mb/s, so I think that you must have very very very fast mcu to do all things. Siemens have CP for Profibus (Communication processor), which do only profibus protocol, so think again if you want to implement this protocol on mcu.

Profibus is RS485 by hardware, but I don't know where you can find protocol details.

Best regards,

microcontroller profibus

Speed is not a big problem, i can use a dspic or similar dsp+microntroller or even a dsp, that are really fast. The problem is, like you said, the protocol!!.

I need the protocol.

spc3 profibus

As I know owner of this protocol is Siemens and 'couse of that I think that is very hard to find protocol definiton.

Hi!

Here is Profibus DP specification. I'm not sure that this is last version, but anyway I think it may help you.
I have some more PDFs about Profibus, contact me if you need more info.

Dear Akorostel,

do you have the PDF with the protocol specifications for the ProfiBus ?
If you have, would you be so kind to share it ?

Thanks for it

Hi,
Siemens has a firmware for 8051 micros from Siemens/Infineon, we have done some projects with a C517 and the siemens SPC3 chip, it is still working very well...

Dear Mr_Programmer,

that firmware is in Assembly or C ?
Do you mind to share it ?

I am planning to implement a ProfiBus comm on my systems, and that would be vey handy.

Thanks

dspic profibus

Hi asena,

the firmware is in C and was compiled with 8051 Keil Compiler...
But the firmware itself is licensed, a part you can buy from Siemens / Infineon

profibus dspic

Dear Mr_Programmer,

thanks for the follow up.
I'll chase Siemens for that code then.

thanks

profibus mikrocontroller

Dear Asena,

You can also try to use the VPC3+C from company Profichip (www.profichip.com). It is compatible with the SPC3 from Siemens, but Profichip are much more accesible than Siemens. Furthermore you can order to Profichip free of cost samples.

From wich country are you? I' m from Barcelona (Spain)

Best Regards,

Ramon Maldonado

profibus datalink

Hi,

we tried also the VPC3, but the behavior was different to the SPC3 so this chip wasn't accepted as second source for our project.
