Microcontroller can run with either of these crystals?

Hello,

We are using the SAM3N00B microcontroller with the following crystal , "HC49SM" it is 4MHz.

The PCB assemblers have offered us a much cheaper alternative, it is "HC49US", also 4MHz.

(both datasheets are attached)

Do you know if its OK to use either of these crystals with this microcontroller?

Hi,

Well one is a though hole type the other smd, hence being cheaper.

Thought those chips had an internal 4mhz oscillator, is your work that critical it needs an external crystal and caps ?

Maybe you're right, there is also a 32.678KHz crystal for timing purposes as its an emergency light. I suppose i dont need the 4mhz crystal....but it would be nice to know it these are noth usable. They both have SMD versions.
