How do u measure waveform symmetry percentages?

Some function generators have a symmetry parameter to change the waveforms symmetry

How do u measure waveform symmetry?

the ratio betwen ON time and total time period(ON +OFF time) will fetch you the symmetry percentage

So i measure the ON time and then i measure the OFF time and ADD them together?

Added after 4 hours 13 minutes:

Percentage means-a proportion multiplied by 100

Ratio means- the relative magnitudes of two quantities
The comparison of two numbers by division
10:1 or 8:1 or 5:1 or 3:7 or 6:9 this is a ratio

So the symmetry is adjusting the charging and discharging times or the on/off times?

whats the differences between symmetry VS duty cycle? they both are controlling the charging and discharging times or the on/off times

Duty cycle formula:

Square wave has Tw(1) and Tw(2)
percentage duty cycle= Tw/period X 100%

example Tw= 1us
Period= 10us

1us/10us X 100%= 10% duty cycle

Symmetry Formula:

Triangle wave has Tw(1) positive cycle and Tw(2) negative cycle

Period= on time + off time

Ratio symmetry formula= On time/offtime ?

How do i get it to result a ration like 10:1 or 8:1 or 5:1 or 3:7 or 6:9 this is a ratio?

Symmetry example

On time is 1us and the offtime is 10us whats the ratio?

On time is 5ms and the offtime is 60ms whats the ratio?

On time is 20ms and the offtime is 120ms whats the ratio?

On time is 40us and the offtime is 400us whats the ratio?
