measure the power spectral density of a recieved wave

how to measure the power spectral density of a recieved waveform?
is it possible to do taht in this way?
..by measuring wave voltage then using a micro controller-pre programmed with an empirical relation- to find the frequency of the received waveform and then using a DSP to calculate the PSD?
