Measure AC current using ACS712 + AT mega 32

hiii everyone,,

I have some project to measure AC current using ACS 712 + AT mega 32. when I applied ACS 712 on AC Load and I checked output waveform on ACS 712 using Osiloscop and output waveform is DC waveform but there is still ripple, so How to get right ADC value?
This is bit confusing. Could anyone please explain it?

Output from ACS712 is always DC and in range 0-5V.

2,5V is 0V.

Check datasheet graph.



For example ACS720-20 (20A) on output :

0,5V is -20A
2,5V is 0A
4,5V is +20A


For ripple use suggested capacitor from datasheet.

In uC code you adjust true readings.

if I use capacitor to eliminate ripple, value is the capacitor to eliminate ripple?

in datasheet they only suggest to use peak detector but I have difficulty to find the suggested electronic component. maybe, is there simple circuit to eliminate ripple? or program algorithm in Uc code to eliminate ripple. Could anyone please explain it?

Put 1nf capacitor between filter and ground pin as per datasheet

I suggest reading part datasheet. Look Page 13.

What value of cap you use ?

Try to increase value.
