VGA to EGA monitor?

Hello,

Is it possible without much design time to convert an VGA monitor to EGA? any link or info?

thanks a lot,

mimoto

Have you checked if your EGA monitor has composite video input ? several cga/ega monitor had that input, so you could use easily the tv output of an vga graphics card to use that monitor, anyway i cant recommend it, lot of image quality is missed.

You could try some of the belkin adapters, www.belkin.com, for example
"Pro Series VGA/EGA Adapter Block F2N163 Allows an EGA monitor with a DB9 male port to interface with a VGA port with an HDDB15 female port" 16$

Anyway never used it so have no idea about.

Re: VGA to EGA monitor?

I have no concrete experience of using a VGA monitor with an EGA
card.
I have some EGA card that I have used in the past with a "goupil" NEC
Multisync monitor which is multi-sync and works in EGA mode, + also in
VGA Mode 800x600 by making a simple adapter (subd-9 [monitor]<-> subhd-15[vga card].
If you are interested I have hardcopy documentation of the EGA System.
I think a multi-sync VGA monitor should probably work also with an EGA
card but have never tested it.
Perhaps you have a system that has built-in EGA output (Laptop?)?
why do you need to test this?

Its for an upgrade. The idea is that in the past we used a EGAmonitor with an old PC. Now the PC is upgraded (VGA output) so I am looking for information in order to decide if I will also need to change the monitor in the upgrade.

Thanks a lot and best regards,

I will check Belkin at the moment.
