sensing fast movement

Hi all;
i want a sensor that detect fast movement. i want a beam that move in a straight line.
thanks

sensing fast movement

fast movement of what?, light, body, magnetic, para magnetic, dielectric, hot, cold,

how fast?

Re: sensing fast movement

dear Basil;
fast movement of body. and when the peron is running.
thanks

Re: sensing fast movement

why don't you try ultrasound , you can find some examples doing a google search

Re: sensing fast movement

try PIR application.
It can detect human movement of about 0.5m/s up to 7m/s from more than 10 meters away.

Re: sensing fast movement

hi everybody;
i don't want this type of sensors.
for example suppose that we have a straight line and when a body cut this line then we detect him/her. for example in running race, when every body pass the end line we recognize and we have the time of passing. and it is important for me that this beam is very thin.
because if the beam is not thin then the time of passing of body or other thing is not exact.
i want to extract the exact time. (up to 5 meters)

Hi,

first and foremost I´m not a specialist (so use " " to read me), however I think you need focousing or collimation, i.e. some kind of optics, to get a narrow beam. That´s all.

You also can use a reflective surface on the other side of the raceway: the ligth bean must be interrupted to have a signal. This is very narrow.

I think You could increase the time resolution taking the derivate of your signal.
