Hi all!

I have a big interest in arithmetic circuts based on TTL and CMOS gate technology.
I´m looking for a book or a homepage about this.
The ones i have found so far lack detailed circut descriptions.

I have built a 8 bit MSEQ with 74181, some latches, and a little memory.
It is realy amazig how "complex" stuff you can do with this.
And the thing i like the moust is that the more you work with the circut the more
complex your instructions get.
The first thing i did was a simple fibbonachi counter.
Now i´m experimenting with control and logic.

It would be realy nice to build an 16 or even 32bit version of this.
But i need more insperation.

Best regards

Hi cosmox,
Even I am interested in things like that! Would you like to share ur work
here???
Following book is available here in ebooks upload/download section ...
B. Parhami, Computer Arithmetic - Algorithms and Hardware Design
This one will be helpful to you.
K. Hwang, Computer Arithmetic: Principles, Architecture,
and Design. New York: Wiley, 1979 This one is another good one!!
For bit-slice design following is the best book!

Bit-Slice Design: Controllers and ALUs
by Donnamaie E. White
You can read this online here https://www10.dacafe.com/book/parse_book.php?article=BITSLICE/BIT_CHAP_1/bitslcIb.html

Most of the bit slice chips used in book are from AMD and are now out of production.
But you can get verilog core of same from the net.
Best you start designing with FPGA than using individual TTL chips!

Nice to see that more ppl like thise kinds of machines.
I have found some good info here.
I realy have to lift my hat for this guy!
You can even talk to his computer on the net!
I will post my schematic (if i can find it) with some pictures as soon as I get home.
Thanx for youre help.

Best regards, Hampus

BTW, does anyone know if the 74381,382 is still available?

/Hampus

I think they are available!
74381 '382.

But again I will suggest you to go for FPGA board!!!

Yes, grab youself an inexpensive Xilinx or Altera FPGA development kit. If you think bit-slice was clever and fun, then when you start playing with FPGAs you'll feel like a kid in a candy store.
