CRC computing

Follow this link. It has a nice Verilog/VHDL code generator for any CRC polynomial and any data width. It also supports byte enable function.

hi .. i have crc16 routine used on atmega163. this is the slow implementation without lookup table so you do not need so much ram.
anyway with 4mhz avr it is much faster than fast method (lookuptable)
with x51 at 12mhz. i can send you source if interested ...

regards

crc

here we go .. quite simple ;0)
you have to know which polynom (POLY) is used on the other end

#define POLY 0xffff

unsigned int crc16(unsigned char *data_p, unsigned int length)
{
unsigned char i;
unsigned int d;
unsigned int crc = 0xffff;
if (length == 0)
return (~crc);
do
{
for (i=0, d=(unsigned int)0xff & *data_p++;i < 8; i++, d >>= 1)
{
if ((crc & 0x0001) ^ (d & 0x0001))
crc = (crc >> 1) ^ POLY;
else crc >>= 1;
}
} while (--length);
crc = ~crc;
d = crc;
crc = (crc << 8) | ((d >> 8) & 0xff);
return (crc);
}
