Please visit this site for AT commands. Regarding connection to the Microcontroller, have you purchased a serial cable and if yes, do you have its schematic diagram?. If the RS232 signals are available at 'true' TTL levels, you can directly connect to the micro, otherwise either TTL inverters or standard RS232 driver IC (inverter plus level traslator) should be used.
