I'm currently in a project using an image sensor but I'm a bit stuck at this moment.

My current design consist of an image sensor OV2640 connected directly to a SIM5218 which stores and sends pictures thought a 3G modem. SIM5218 is only compatible with the following image sensors:
OV2659,
BLX2659-200W,
OV2640,
8211C,
OV7740,
BLX774
8806Q
GT2005
BLX20050-200W/GNBF110587,
OV76708016E,
OV7690,
CN00302F3289-B-Module,
OV7725,
8806Q
GT2005
BLX2005
GC0309.

The project needs the camera to be as small as possible and process everything 1.5 meter away. As I try to enlarge the cable from the OV2640 to the SIM5218 1.5meters, the camera does not work. I installed between the OV2640 and the SIM5218 a serdes (serializer deserialiser) to solve this. I bought the evaluation kit of a serdes from Texas Instruments (SERDESUB-16OVT/NOPB **broken link removed**) witch integrates DS90UB901Q and DS90UB902Q chips. But after I bought it I found out it's just compatible with the OmniVision camera modules:
OV10620,
OV7710,
OV9715.
Non of them is compatible with the SIM5218

So at this point I'm thinking of finding a serializer for the image sensor OV2640 to send the info 1.5 meters or change the module SIM5218 for a 3G modem standalone and find a way to store the pictures in a memory so that the new 3G modem can use it in order to send it to the internet.

So I need help to:

1.- Serialize the 0V2640 output so that it can be transmuted 1.5 meters

or

2.- Select a new camera sensor and a way to store the photo file 1.5meters away in a place accesible for the 3G modem

Option 1 is the quickest and less painful. Option 2 is more traumatic my design but the upside is I can select a better sensor because OV2640 is not HD and the picture quality is in the edge of being inaceptable for us.(2 MegaPixels is more than enough for us, I just want better quality sensor).

For the record, It’d be better to have a regular 1.5 meters cable. I mean I prefer to avoid having a 20-something pin bus of 1.5 meters long.
