Hi,

As a PCB Designer what precautions we have to take for placement & routing of Linear & Switching regulators ?? Generally for Regulators we follow more copper pouring with multiple vias for complete signal flow ( i/p to o/p ), proper GND shilding to maintain clearance with other signals on the board .

But are there any special rules or guidelines for Linear & Switching Regulators ?

Kindly waiting for ur replies ....

Thanks in advance !!

As compare to Linear regulator, high frequency is involve in switching regulators, so the ground track should be closed loop or a whole plane (layer) can be used for grounding, so that noise which can effect regulation etc can eliminated or reduced.

ENJOY!
