Dear friends,
I needed some help about what are some layout guidelines when laying out devices to achieve good matching. For example what are matching considerations and guidelines when laying out MOS devices for a wide swing current mirror that is providing bias to rest of the circuit. Similarly what are the matching considerations and guidelines when laying out diff pairs. Also if anyone knows any textbooks/papers/websites where I can read up on this that would be very helpful.
Hi
There are too many document abaout layout match.
First, you can refer to the Alan Hasstings' book "The Art of Analog Layout"
This is most famous book about analog layout.
Then you can also refer to the following material.
There are so many tutorials available on internet for analog layout and matching,
surely you can refer Alan Hasting but if you are a new person then its bit difficult to understand. you can also refer CMOS IC Layout: Concepts, Methodologies, and Tools by Dan Clein. also search for good tutorial over internet
lot already said here.
For Differential you need to consider 2 nd ordr effect so you need two dimensional matching there. however for current mirron only 1 korder variation is taken injto accout so interdigitation along wiht dummy witll do.
Thanks for the info. Can you please elaborate more on the diff amp layout techniquw for matching? In fact I am designing a diff amp right now and need to take this into consideration. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Alan Hasstings' book is very good.
But at first, i suggest to read chapter 2 from ken Martin's book " Analog Integrated Circuit Design "
Hope that helps,
im doing the layout of a clocked comparator. simulation after parasitic extraction shows that there is an ofset of -40mV for the input transistors.any suggestions?
Also, any precautions while routing clock signal?
