Dear All,
We will try to construct a Cassegrain Antenna for 10 Ghz EME.
We need to construct a large (at least 5 mt.) Parabolic Dish.
We don't want to buy a one piece reflector, we want to buy panel reflectors to build it.
Unfortunately we are having trouble finding a supplier for Large Parabolic Reflector Panels.
Any help would be appreciated...
Thanx in advance
Hi there
I assume you must be an amateur radio operator let us know your callsign
Just a really BIG HINT a 5 metre dish is going to be extremely difficult to
point accurately!! its going to have a beamwidth of maybe 0.5 degree.
A 3 to 3.5 metre dish would be much easier to mount and point and even it
has quite a narrow beamwidth ~ 1 to 2 degrees.
You will need a decent amplifier with ~ 10 to 20 W output. for those power levels
on 10GHz most guys would use TWT (travelling Wave Tube) amplifiers as
semiconductor amps with that level of power out are still VERY expensive
An 8W semiconductor amp would be around the US$1000
An amateur frind of mine did the first Australia to UK 10GHz moonbounce (EME)
using a 3.6 metre dish and a 20W TWT
Whatever dish you decide on you are going to need some very good antenna
pointing hardware, low noise RX amplifier, Hi power TX amplifier
good luck
