Dear Sir,

I have used ATMEL made SPI flash AT45DB321D. The design is working fine.

Recently Adesto acquired ATMEL's flash business and the part is sold with adesto's name. I got some adesto parts and currently observing few failure rates with the new part. Sometimes the flash contents are getting erased. What could be the reason ?

Regards
Soumen

It may happen that the design is on the edge. Then small changes in the device parameters like timing or output drive level can cause such failures on some parts. I worked with these flash devices too and I have noticed that on a typical 1.5mm 2-layer board they require good power supply decoupling and some simple impedance matching method like resistors 33-100 ohm in series with the signal lines, the clock signal especially.
