Is there any way to have on chip temp monitor?

You can use a simple diode. Since the diode current is dependent of Temp you can monitor the current across the diode and detect temp variations from there...

Thanks layoutmaster, but isn't the saturated current Is a function of the temp?
Id=Is exp(Vd/Vt) and Vt= KT/q.
 

In particular yes, but also the not saturated one, which is:

ID = Is x (exp(Vd/Vt)-1)
