tracing a exe

hi

Do we have any tool/IDE to trace a windows exe file or dissassemble it so that breakpoint can be set in the code and trace the exe ...?

pls give me some link for any free software/disassembler which does that.

Re: tracing a exe

You can use VC++ debugger, just open the exe file. start debugging..

as the source code is not available you can not look at the source. But you will see the windows system calls. You have to step through/break points in assembler instructions only.

Cheers

Free? Ok, try WinDbg in Microsoft's "Debugging Tools for Windows"
