Is matching necessary when you try to test?

Hi guys
I want to ask if some of you have experience on test performance without matching. My question is if you put your power port(-50 dBm @50 Ohm) which is 1mv if you matched into 50 Ohms, you connect the power port into a gate of mosfet,of course it is not matched. My qeustion is what is the voltage here? what is the real voltage 1mv or 2mv?
Thanks,

Depending what exactly high resistance has the input of your MOSFET, the voltage actually could be up to 100mV.

This could be the case only with a zero or infinite impedance source. I understand that power port means a matched 50 ohm source. Then, the output voltage can't be higher than 2 mV.
