Hi,

Just curious here and wish to ask around if anyone have tried running a 12VDC MR16 LED lamp using 9VDC?

Does it light up & does using lower operating voltage helps in extending the bulb's life cycle?

Thanks.

It is possible that a bare 12V led (or led string) may light dimly at 9V.

The proportion compares to values I obtained by experiment with led's. One shone brightly at 1.7V, and very dim at 1.2 V.

A bare led operates within a certain range of voltage. This range is usually very narrow. It stays dark below a certain voltage. Above that voltage it starts to light, and then you must be careful so that current does not rise so high that it fries the led.
