Is it feasible to generate negative voltage using positive LDO?

For example, can I get -5V voltage from -9V with positive LDO. Connect -9V to GND pin of LDO, while connect ground to IN pin of LDO? Is that okay?
If the answer is yes, why do we need negtive LDO such as 7905?
