i've found an IR reciever from a broken NEC subwoofer
it has 3 pins and this is writtin on the back of it:
W
8385
i've searched a lot to see a datasheet or sth ,but found none.
i want to use it in another device, and want to know what IR LED to use for sending data on it.
can someone tell me how to determine the frequency that it works on?

when i try to connect it to supply voltage it takes so much current
why is that?

i use a 14 volts adaptor serial with a zener and input of a 7805
and the output of 7805 is connected to the ir transmiter
when i turn the supply on the zener diode turn hot and black and if i let it be,it makes some smoke!!!!! :D
so i think it takes so much current!
