IR Physical link for ATC commands

Hello Friends,

Is it possible to use IR as a physical link to connect a mobile phone to a MCU via IR? Any schematics and is it the same as the the cabled one?

use IrDa chip or a microcontroller with built in IrDa

you must know the protocol of comunication with phone if you want to view the controller like a device via phone
