IP core fees

Hi,

I am planning to create a FPGA based product.
I am good in VHDL & Hw design and very bad in cost valuation...

Can you suggest some point on
1. how to value the FPGA based design.
2. Do I have pay for EDA tool (Quartus II Web Edition)
3. How much fees to pay for IP core (memory controller and NIOS processor)
4. For small quantity of FPGA(100), who is the right distributor

any other input is welcome...
due to job loss, i am getting mad...

so may be product design looks good option..

Re: IP core fees

1. Good question
2. Yes, you have to pay
3. You may use a memory controller from opencores. For Nios, you have to pay one fee. After that you can use it as often as you want without other obligations. The only limitation is that you have to use Altera chips.
4. Where are you from?

IP core fees

You can compare your IP to similar available IPs from IP vendors. Most of these vendors are not disclosing their rates online. So, you need to contact them to get quotations. If they didn't reply, then this means that you need to communicate with them using a corporate email address, representing a company.
