Internal voltage of a LCD Monitor

hey guys,

I need to use a HDMI display in a car for a undergrad project. Most economical method is to use my old 15 inch HP L1530 LCD monitor.

I could use a power inverter (12V->230V), but it would be better if I don't. (my professors don't like it )

Is it possible for me to give a direct 12V DC power supply to the monitor? (Is it working on 12V internally)

The question can't be answered from the user manual. I think there's a good chance that the monitor has a single +12V internal supply, but it might e.g. use a different voltage for the backlight inverter. You'll either consult a circuit diagram/service manual or find out yourself. In any case, many other LCD displays have an external 12V supply.

I suggest you use another inverter first before cracking down the monitor. Find your self a higher power inverter first. if it works, you are good to go.
no need of cracking things down if that becomes the case.
